The Waterloo Republican, May 6, 1897: Ed F. Schoening recently received notice of the death of his uncle Prof. Johannes Brahms of Vienna, Austria. Prof. Brahms was a brother of Mr. Schoening's mother. He was a musical composer of international reputation, his productions being played by Sousa and Gilmore and other leading band masters of the world. He left an estate valued at 150,000 franks besides a large income from royalties on his compositions, on which Mr. Schoening is a co-heir.
