The Times Friday, October 22, 1915 Picture Machine Damaged by Vandals The picture machine of John Dohm in Bickelhaupt’s pavilion was wrecked by some evil minded person some time Saturday night. The party or parties gained access to the pavilion and damaged the machine badly. We have been told that the lense is missing, the handle is torn off and that all the wires were cut off, evidently with a sharp knife or hatchet. A man with a blood hound was summoned here from East St. Louis, Monday, but owing to the fact that several parties had viewed the wrecked machine it was almost impossible for the dog to get the right scent and this method had to be abandoned. It is one of the most low-down contemptible acts ever perpetrated in this city and the Times did not think we had anybody in our city who would stoop low enough to commit such a diabolical deed. We sincerely hope the guilty party or parties will be apprehended and that they will get their just dues.
