Reichenbach and children visited their parents here Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Schoening attended the Kalbfleisch-Schmidt nuptials at Millstadt last Thursday. Wheat is getting ripe and the farmers are cutting this week. William Wenkel jr. was the first to be cutting. Mrs. Annie Wagner and daughter, Mrs. Elise Weissenstein were the guests of Dr. P.J. Gillen of Prairie du Rocher Sunday and Monday. Dr. M.G. Nixon, Ed. F. Schoening, Leon Schoppe, Ernest A. Weinel, Harry McKee went to Belleville Saturday night at attend Masonic lodge. Mrs. Kate Stephan celebrated her 87th birthday anniversary Wednesday evening last week. The Ideal mandolin and guitar club serenaded the old lady. Mrs. George Riebling was the recipient of a surprise Wednesday evening of last week the occasion being her 51st birthday anniversary. The Ideal mandolin and guitar club tendered her a serenade. Mr. Peter Kalbfleisch and Miss Lena Schmidt were married last Thursday at the Millstadt Hotel. The young couple will make their house at Columbia where Mr. Kalbfleisch has a position as flour packer in the Columbia Star Mills. Mr. Lenhard Baltz and Miss Lena Arres were married on Tuesday last at the residence of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Arres of Sugar Loaf township. The young couple will make their home with the groom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Baltz. A young girl of John Wenkel’s was bitten by a snake last Friday. The child was playing in the orchard when she stepped upon the snake and it bit her. She was brought in to Dr. Rose who treated the case and pronounced it not dangerous. It is believed to have been a black snake.
