The Waterloo Times Friday Jul 9, 1915 ROCKETS CATCH FIRE; ARM BADLY BURNED Philip Burkhardt is wearing his left arm in a sling as a result of a premature discharge of an armful of skyrockets which he was getting ready to discharge down in Bickelhaupt’s park Monday evening. In lighting one of the rockets the balance, which he carried under his arm, took fire, and for a few minutes there was some lively scooting out of the way by persons who came to spend the evening in the park and see the fireworks. The rockets went in all directions and several persons had their clothing scorched. Burkhardt was the only one injured, however, and is nursing a badly burned forearm as a result of his experience.
