The Waterloo Times Friday Jul 9, 1915 RENAULT FARMER COMMITS SUICIDE Frank Fogelphol, an aged and hard-working farmer who has been making his home with his son Joseph, west of Kidd, Ill., committed suicide Sunday evening after putting in a hard day’s work. Fogelphol’s wife died several years ago, and since that time he has been making his home with his son’s family. He had the reputation of being a hard worker and his neighbors would often comment upon how much work the old man (he was 73 years of age) could do. It is said that he used to work in the field all day and then shuck corn at night. He tied a rope to the bottom of a fence Sunday evening fastened the end around his neck, climbed up one the fence and fell or three himself over. Upon missing him his son went out to look for him and found him aside of the fence still alive. He cut the rope and carried the old man into the house. A physician was summoned, but the old man died a short while later. Coroner Wilhelmj was summoned and held and inquest over the remains.
