Foster Pond News The Waterloo Times - Feb 12, 1915 There was a feed cutting at Louis Mueller’s this week. Mr. Boersch down the road, has his saw-mill whirring nowadays. Mrs. Ed Kipping spent the day with Geo. W. Harbaugh’s folks Tuesday. People of the country will not receive their Valentines on St. Valentine’s day this year. It comes on Sunday. Gee! Some peddlers around these days, and this is about the way they come. One carrying a pile of notions, another hauling a Cry goods department, next one lugging a tin-shop and so on. All doing well and still a few more could do well of they’d hike out with loads of feed so the farmers wouldn’t have to drive to town when the roads are as they have been for sometime. There was a rafile and dance at Herman Thiele’s place near Fountain Creek Saturday evening. Henry Fischer made the “moosic” with his pull-out and that was fine. Some of Schorr’s pale enlivened the boys and the times were good. Herman had his friends come to help celebrate his birthday and also to have a farewell time, as he intends to journey back to Iowa directly after the disposal of his property at the sale on March 8. Geo. Kopp from the other side of town has rented the place now occupied by Mr. Thiele, and will, no doubt soon live by the creek. (NOTE) Typed as was printed in the newspaper misspellings and all.
