Servais Sondag served in the 49th Regiment Illinois Infantry Volunteers,  Co. H. Monroe County, February 1862 he was wounded at Fort Donelson, August 13, 1863 was sent out after rebel guerrillas and April 20, 1864 promoted to Captain.  Discharged September 16, 1864.

Servais Sondag, age 22, single, occupation farmer.  He was born in Belgium. Died March 16, 1887 and is buried in the Catholic Cemetery, Waterloo, Illinois
