The following entries are found in the death/burial records of ST. PAUL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 127 North St. Paul Street, Columbia, Illinois 62236. They were translated & indexed from the original German by Robert Buecher, 5865 Robert Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63109.

Information enclosed in brackets [ ] is NOT found in the original record but has been added by Mr. Buecher either as a correction or for clarification. When words in the original records were written with an umlaut [two dots over the vowels "A", "O", or "U"], they have been typed here as "AE", "OE", or "UE". Wernig, Hessen Darmstadt there are several entries for deaths of residents from the village of Wernig, located in Hessen Darmstadt. This village sold their property to the Count of Solms-Laubach in January 1841. The inhabitants then moved in-masse to Monroe County.
