Bruninger, Ermantine C. nee Range Ermantine C. Gruninger nee Range, 94, of Columbia, died June 19, 2007, in Columbia. She was born May 16, 1913, in Cahokia, the daughter of the late Joseph and Emma Range nee Levin. She married the late Charles Gruninger in 1933. Mrs. Gruninger is survived by her son Clark W. (Judy) Gruninger of Grafton; grandchildren Cherrell (Randy) Scism of Lake St. Louis, Mo., and Brenda (Greg) McCauley of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; great- grandchildren Chelsea Scism, Taylor Scism, Brett McCauley, Caitlyn McCauley and Cory McCauley; brothers and sisters Joseph (Pat) Range Sr. of Columbia, Kenneth (Clara) Range of Nixa, Mo. Gertrude Doerr of Wood River, and Dora Mae Tolbird of Columbia; and sisters-in-law Norma and Ada. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers Theodora Range, Paul Range and Virgil Range. Mrs. Gruninger attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia, and had been active in many church affairs: president of Belleville Diocessant Council of Catholic Women, Illinois state treasurer of the Council of Traffic Safety, president of Newman Auxiliary of the Belleville Diocese for 35 years, past president of the Altar Sodality at Immaculate Conception Church, member of the Ladies' Retreat League at King's House in Belleville, won the Pope Paul VI Pro- Ecclesia Award in 1976, and was a charter member and former regent of Daughters of Isabella, Bishop Zurowest Circle. She retired as a cashier at Famous-Barr in St. Louis. Visitation and a funeral Mass were at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia, Fr. Carl Scherrer officiating. She is buried at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Columbia. Memorials may be made to the Newman Auxiliary Student Center in Carbondale or the Immaculate Conception Church Building Fund.
