Arns, Emily Pauline nee Adent
Emily Pauline Arns nee Adent, 92, of Carbondale, died Dec. 17, 2006, in 
Carbondale. She was born March 10, 1914, in Chicago, the daughter of the 
late Paul and Maryanne Adent nee Salatycka. She was married to the late Dr.
 Jerome L. Arns. Mrs. Arns is survived by her children Richard (Sue) Arns of 
St. Charles, Mo., Paula (Larry) Franklin of Makanda, Bonita (James) Vourvoulias 
of Park Ridge, and David (Carol) Arns of St. Charles, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 
three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Margaret Arns of Waterloo; and nieces, 
nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, seven 
brothers and one sister. Mrs. Arns was a U.S. Army nurse. Visitation was at 
Quernheim Funeral Home. A funeral mass was at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic 
Church in Waterloo, Msgr. Thomas Flach officiating. She is buried at Ss. Peter 
and Paul Cemetery in Waterloo. Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes 
Foundation.
