The Columbia Star February 21, 1929 Deaths Mrs. Kunigunda Schiemer Mrs. Kunigunda Schiemer, died at the hospital at Anna February 17, 1929 after a lingering illness. She was improving nicely and it was thought that she could soon be brought home when she suffered a stroke of paralysis and the end came in few hours. The deceased was born in this community April 1, 1862, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Riebling. She died after attaining the age of 66 years, 10 months and 14 days. On May 18, 1886 she was united in marriage to Charles Schiemer, who preceded her death. To this union seven children were born, four of whom survive, Anton, Charles and Mrs. Edgar Steppig of this city and Mrs. Jack Miller of St. Louis. Mrs. Annie Ferguson, Mrs. Carrie Sulpe and Louis Schimer were the three children who preceded their mother in death. By a strange co-incidence both her husband and her son were killed while at work at Dupo. Six grandchildren and a host of other relatives and dear friends as well as her aged step-mother mourn her departure. The deceased was a good Christian woman, a faithful woman of the Catholic Church. She was a good mother, toiling unselfishly to take care of her large family. In the last years illness had changed her but her family loves to remember her many acts of love and kindness for she lived only for her family. She made her house with her son Tony for a number of years, and here received every care, all members of the family doing what they could to make their mother’s years declining years happy. Funeral services were held at the Catholic Church Monday. Rev. Otto Meier officiated. The remains were interred in the Catholic Cemetery. The family have the sympathy of all in their hour of sorrow.
