Waterloo, Illinois Republic-Times newspaper: August 23, 2006 pg 3a Homer W. HERGENROEDER Homer W. HERGENROEDER, 88, of Waterloo, died Aug. 18, 2006 in Waterloo. He was born Oct. 11, 1917 in Fults, son of the late George and Hattie (nee SCHMIDT) HERGENROEDER. Mr Hergenroeder was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Waterloo, board member of the Monroe County Fair Association with 35 years of volunteer service, the Waterloo Sportsmans Club, Bissel Lake, and former member of the Kaskaskia Trail Chorus. He retired from Monsanto Chemical Company in 1980 after 38 years of service, and was former owner of West End Tavern in Waterloo. Survivors include two children, Faye (Dr. Ronald) WILLIAMS of Columbia and Duane "Roy" (Judi) HERGENROEDER of Waterloo; step-children C. James (Jean) WELSCH of Aurora, Ill. and Thomas R. WELSCH and Carol (Michael) BIRK, both of Waterloo; grandchildren Dr. Kimberly (Dr. Bill) NOLAN, Dr. Brady WILLIAMS and Krista WILLIAMS; step-grandchildren Adam MARTIN, Todd WELSCH, Nicole (Hank) HARRISON, Tara LUHR (Scottie BRYANT), J T WELSCH, Lindsey WELSCH and Alex WELSCH; along with step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Lloyd (Sally) HERGENROEDER of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a sister-in-law, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by a wife, Dorothy E. WELSCH HERGENROEDER (nee THIELE); and a brother, Adolph G. HERGENROEDER. Visitation was held Sunday, Aug. 20 and Monday, Aug. 21 at Quernheim Funeral Home in Waterloo. Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 21 at Quernheim Funeral Home with Pastor Mary Beth HARTENSTEIN. Burial was in Kohler Memorial Cemetery, Waterloo. Memorials may be made to St. Paul UCC in Waterloo, or to the Monroe County Fair Association.
