The Waterloo Republic Times August 10, 1983 Funeral Today For Rose Oelzen Rose E. Oelzen, nee Kunkel, 95, of Columbia, formerly of Fults, wife of the late Peter W. Oelzen, died August 6, 1983, at the Monroe County Nursing Home, Waterloo. Mrs. Oelzen had been a resident of the nursing home for two and one- half years. Funeral services were held at 10am today (Wednesday) in Immaculate Conception Church in Columbia, the Rev. J. Jansen officiating. Burial was in the National Cemetery, Jefferson Barracks, Mo. Quernheim Funeral Directors of Waterloo were in charge. Mrs. Oelzen was born July 26, 1888, in Fults, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Kunkel, nee Vogel. Her survivors include a daughter, Hazel Rodewald of Columbia, a son Herbert Oelzen of East Alton; three grandchildren, Sharon Reichert and Tim and Dennis Oelzen; a great-grandson, Scott Reichert; and a sister, Bertha Ackerman of Dupo, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband who died February 16, 1981, and a son Waldo Oelzen, who died at Anzio Beach, Italy, 1944; three sisters and three brothers. The Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. a
