The Waterloo Republican July 25, 1951 Veteran Buried in National Cemetery William Michael Kunkel, 57, of near Fults, a veteran of World War I, died at Mount St. Rose Hospital in St. Louis, Saturday, July 21, 1951, and was buried Tuesday morning in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Services were held in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic church with Rev. L. Deone officiating. The body was at the Quernheim Funeral Home and the services were in charge of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Kunkel is survived by his wife, the former Mary Carron, a daughter Mrs. Earl Nagel of Evansville, Ill., one son William Kunkel, Jr., at home, two grandchildren and four sisters. The sisters are Mrs. Nick Goodmann, of Fults, Mrs. Peter Oelzen of Fults, Mrs. Mary Viola and Mrs. Bertha Ackerman of Dupo.
