The Waterloo Republican October 28, 1942 CROOK Joseph William Crook, of Burksville, died Thursday, October 22, 1942, at St. Clements Hospital in Red Bud, as a result of a stroke. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Mollie Crook, nee Dugan. Mr. Crook was employed at the Burksville Elevator, where he assisted Herman Oldendorph. He was born January 3, 1888, and at the time of his sudden death had attained the age of 54 years, 9 months and 19 days. The funeral took place Saturday morning from the Quernheim Funeral Home to the Tiptown Catholic Church, with services conducted by Rev. Traynor and interment in the Tiptown Cemetery. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Swantner, tow sons, Joseph and Patrick, two step-daughters, Mrs. Rose Matzenbacher and Mrs. Mayme Hellmer, and one sister Mrs. Sam Schrum.
