Schmitz, Clarence J.

Clarence J. Schmitz, 80, of Waterloo, died January 3, 2006, in St. Louis. He was born 
October 24, 1925, in Boxtown, the son of the late John and Helena Schmitz nee Hoef. 
He was married to Pearl A. Schmitz nee Wienhoff. Mr. Schmitz is survived by his wife; 
children Sharon (George) Hoerr of Fults, Dennis (Brenda) Schmitz of Waterloo, William 
(Janet) Schmitz of Waterloo, Robert (Linda) Schmitz of Waterloo, and David (Tamara) 
Schmitz of Waterloo; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, nieces, 
nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Albert Schmitz, 
Lawrence W. Schmitz, Oscar Schmitz and Robert Schmitz; sisters Celia Schmeig, Josephine 
Menke, Vera Gregson and Dolores Schmitz. Mr. Schmitz was a member of Ss. Peter and 
Paul Catholic Church in Waterloo. He was a former member of St. Patrick Church in Tipton. 
Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. A funeral mass was at St. Patrick’s Church in 
Tipton, Father Jose Jacob and Msgr. Thomas Flach officiating. He is buried at St. Patrick’s 
Cemetery in Tipton. Memorials may be made in the form of masses.
