Schmidt, Walter C. Walter C. Schmidt, 95, of Waterloo, died December 10, 2005, in Waterloo. He was born September 19, 1910, in Waterloo, the son of the late John F. and Mary Schmidt nee Loehr. He was married to the late Arlu L. Schmidt. He is survived by his son Fred (Pat) Schmidt of Waterloo; grandchildren David (fiancee Cori Livsey) Schmidt, and Kristina (Kevin) Juelfs; great-grandson Garrick Schmidt; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sisters Elsa (Emil J.) Mueller and Hulda (Willis) Koenigsmark; and brothers William B. (Helen) Schmidt and Armin Schmidt in infancy. Mr. Schmidt was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Waterloo, where he served as president, secretary and elder, and was in the Men’s Fellowship. He was a charter member of the Waterloo Municipal Band, serving as president, secretary and treasurer. He was the superintendent and secretary-treasurer of the Waterloo Cemetery Maintenance District. He served at the district and council levels for Boy Scouts of America, and was awarded the Silver Beaver Award in 1962. Visitation and funeral services were at Quernheim Funeral Home, Pastor Mark Buck officiating. He is buried at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery in Waterloo.
