Mayfield, Oliver E.
Oliver E. Mayfield, 77, formerly of Columbia, died May 29, 2005, in Madison, Wisc. He was born 
April 6, 1928, in East St. Louis, the son of the late Lloyd and Anna M. Mayfield nee Rowe. He was 
married to the late Shirley Mayfield nee Mandeville; she preceded him in death in 1997. He is survived 
by his children Patricia Thiel of Cape Coral, Fla., Ron (Deborah) Mayfield of North Little Rock, Ark., 
and Mary Elizabeth (Dennis) Snyder of Sun Prairie, Wisc.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 
brother Charles W. Mayfield; and sister Margaret Bean. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 
brother Lloyd J. Mayfield Jr. and sister Norma Jean Bernhard. He was retired from Alton Southern Railroad, 
where he worked as a yardmaster and switchman. Visitation and funeral services were at Lawlor Funeral 
Home, Pastor Bill Groennert officiating. He is interred at Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville. Memorials 
may be made to the Don and Marilyn Anderson Hospice Care Center in Madison, Wisc.
