Dougherty, Ettie J. nee Winkelmann Ettie J. Dougherty nee Winkelmann, 88, of Waterloo, died April 23, 2005, in Murphysboro. She was born November 26, 1916, in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Otto E. and Charlotte A. Winkelmann nee Noble. She married the late James Dougherty in 1933. She is survived by her children Charlotte Shields of Waterloo, Virginia (Edward) Schenk of Oraville, Mary (Jack) Parr of Oraville, Gerri Wren of Red Bud, Joann (Arnold) Donjon of Prairie du Rocher, and John (Nancy) Dougherty of Dupo; daughters-in-law Jan Jones of Kentucky, Anna Mae Dougherty of St. Louis, and Kelia Dougherty of Red Bud; 35 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; 7 great- great-grandchildren; sister Hattie Brugger of St. Louis; and brother-in-law Bernard (Jean) Dougherty of Collinsville. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons James Edward Dougherty, Thomas Leo Dougherty, and Kenneth “Buster” Dougherty; three sons-in-law; two grandsons; sisters Mary Studer, Anne Flamm, Lucy Theobold, and Lottie Winkelmann; and brothers Nelson Winkelmann and Otto Winkelmann. Mrs. Dougherty was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Waterloo. Visitation was at DeFabio Funeral home. A funeral mass was at SPPS, Msgr. Thomas Flach officiating. She is buried at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Waterloo. Memorials may be made to Senior Adult Services of Carbondale.
