Divers, John S.
John S. “Jack” Divers, 97, of Columbia, died April 30, 2005, in Belleville. He was born 
December 21, 1907, in South Bend, Ind., the son of the late Jack and Jeanette Divers 
nee Castiel. He married the late Clara E. Divers nee Lieser in 1930. He is survived by his 
son Donald Divers of Columbia; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other 
relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son and daughter-in-law 
Wesson (Mary) Divers and grandchild Bradford Divers. Mr. Divers attended St. Paul 
United Church of Christ in Columbia, where he served on the Cemetery Board and Consistory, 
and was a Sunday school teacher and youth advisor. He was a retired farmer and had been 
active with Boy Scouts. Visitation was at Lawlor Funeral Home. Funeral services were at 
St. Paul United Church of Christ in Columbia, Pastor Michael Dixon officiating. He is buried 
at Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery in Columbia. Memorials may be made to St. Paul United 
 Church of Christ in Columbia.
