Obit Nilges, Violet M. nee Carver Violet M. Nilges nee Carver, 93, of Champaign, formerly of Waterloo, died October 15, 2004, in Champaign. Mrs. Nilges was married to the late Anton H. Nilges. She was born March 28, 1911, in Jefferson city, Mo., the daughter of the late James F. and Caroline Carver nee Kaiser. She is survived by her daughters Norma Jean (James E.) Butler of Waterloo, and Albertha “Terri” (Howard) Carr of Champaign; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister Patricia (Marcella) Schriemann of Jefferson City, Mo.; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandchildren Thomas E. Butler and Michael D. Carr, two sisters and eight brothers. Mrs. Nilges was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She worked at Tweedies Shoe Factory in Jefferson City and Johanson’s Shoe Factory in St. Louis. She loved children, cooking, baking and was an avid knitter. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. Her funeral mass was at SS. Peter and Paul Church, Msgr. Thomas Flach officiating. She is buried at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Waterloo. Memorials may be made to St. Mathews Church in Champaign, The Heritage Nursing Home in Champaign or SS. Peter and Paul Church.
