Fischer, Robert J.
Robert J. Fischer, 75, of Waterloo, died April 11, 2005, in Waterloo. He was born June 16, 1929, 
in St. Louis, the son of the late Jesse and Josephine Fischer nee Dejnowski. He was married to 
Shirley J. Fisher nee Korvas. He is survived by his wife; children Stave (Sue) Gestring, Jackie (Doug) 
Keck, Bobby Fischer and Cheryl (Doug) Mattingly; grandchildren Heather (Jeff) Boulicault, Dave 
Keck, Josh Fischer, Shelby Fisher, Scott Gestring, Stephanie Gestring and Julie Balota; great-
grandchildren Savannah Boulicault, JD Boulicault; step-children Mark Novack, Ellen (Duane H. Ries) 
Gates, John (Susan) Novack, Ryan (Whitney McRoberts) Novack, Julie Novack; step-grandchildren 
Ben Gates, Blake Novack, Monica Novack, Emma Novack, Natalie Novack; brother-in-law Robert 
(Margaret) Korvas; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mrs. Fischer was 
a bus driver for Laidlaw Transit and volunteered at St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Louis. He graduated 
from Cleveland High School in St. Louis and served in the Naval Air Reserves at Lambert Field. 
Visitation and funeral services were held at Quernheim Funeral Home, Neal Orabka officiating. He is 
buried at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery in Waterloo. Memorials may be made to American Cancer 
Society 2005 Monroe County Relay for Life, the Salvation Army or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
