Obit Boland, Robert W. Robert W. Boland, 81, of East Carondelet, died September 16, 2004, in Belleville. He married Charlotte Boland nee Bush in 1947; she survives him. Mr. Boland was born July 22, 1923, in East Carondelet, the son of the late Oscar and Rosie Boland nee Miller. He is survived by his wife; son Darby Boland, of East Carondelet; grandchildren Breanne Boland and Nick Boland; brothers Jim Boland, of Ellis Grove, George (Goldie) Boland, of Millstadt, and Mandy Boland, of Washington; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Nancy Meyer, Dorothy Hayes and Irene Boland; and brothers Clarence Boland, Willy Boland and Lefty Boland. Mr. Boland was a past member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbia and Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Cahokia, where he was active with youth groups and church camps. He was a retired civil servant with the U.S. Army and Navy. He served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War, and spent 20 years in the Naval Reserves. Visitation and funeral services were at Lawlor Funeral Home, Rev. Ed Melchior officiating. He is buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
