The Waterloo Republican Wednesday August 4, 1948 Mrs. George W. Ziebold, 86, Died Here Monday Mrs. Minnie E. Ziebold, 86, widow of the later Geo. W. Ziebold, a pioneer miller of Southern Illinois, died at her home here where she had lived for the past 57 years, Monday morning. August 2, 1948, following a prolonged illness. Mrs. Ziebold, the former Minnie Hoffmeister, was born in St. Louis August 10, 1862, a daughter of Christian Hoffmeister, a pioneer in the undertaking and livery business in St. Louis, where he operated a bus line from Jefferson Barracks to Wild Hunter, later to become known as North Carondelet. This was prior to the advent of streetcars. Her mother was Margaret Hemm Hoffmeister, whose nephew, Prof. Francis Hemm, was a former dean of the St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Mrs. Ziebold was married on October 3, 1883 at the Hoffmeister home in St. Louis by Rev. Schindler of St. Boniface Church. Coming to Monroe Count! y, she and Mr. Ziebold first made their home at Monroe City, where they operated an old water mill. In 1886 the family moved to Waterloo where Mr. Ziebold headed a group in the operation and management of the Waterloo Milling Company. Prior to the death of her husband, Mrs. Ziebold traveled extensively and accompanied her husband on trips to Alaska, Hawaii and Central America. She was a charter member of the Columbian Club, Home Economics and Mary and Martha Society, and up to the time of her illness her home on South Moore Street was always the center of social activity. Mrs. Ziebold is survived by two sons, Geo. C. and Max G. Ziebold, of Waterloo, and four daughters. They are Mrs. Harry B. Sennott of Waterloo, Mrs N Nasseem of Los Angeles, who arrived here Saturday by plane, Mrs. Ben H. Griesedieck, and Mrs F. E. Grimm of St. Louis. There are 22 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Two daughters Florence and Mina Ziebold preceded their mother's death. Mrs. Ziebold's funeral will be held Thursday morning at nine-thirty o'clock with services in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and burial in the Catholic cemetery, with Rev.
