Submitted by Kathleen Reilmann Sr. Mary Clare Died June 14 (has a photo) Sister Mary Clare Toennies, 66, ASC, died June 14, 1984, at Clementine Residence in Red Bud. A native of Albers, Ill., she was the eldest of nine children of Henry and Mary Toennies. She is survived by five sisters, Margatet, Helen, Ann, Mary and Betty (Sister Bernadetta, White Sister), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Sister began working in dietary service in 1936, and the past 17 years she had been at Resurrection Seminary, the formation house on campus at St. Fathers. She was president-elect of the Missouri chapter of the Hospital Institute Educational Food Service Supervisor, and was to have been installed April 6, the day she suffered her first severe heart attack. A wake service was held at 7:30 p.m. June 15, and the liturgy of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. June 16. Burial was in the Convent cemetery.
