SCHMITT William G. Schmitt died at the hospital in St. Louis, Saturday, Sept. 8, 1923, aged 62 years, after an illness of about eighteen months. The remains were brought to Waterloo for interment which took place yesterday morning at 9:30, after requiem high mass at the Catholic Church. The deceased was born and reared in our city, and spent much of his life here, where for several years he was engaged in the saloon business. He is survived by his wife, nee Mentel, and the following children: William, Edward, Jacob, John and Roy. Also by brothers, John of Valmeyer, Mrs. Lena Miller of St. Louis, and half-sister Mrs. Jacob Anderson of St. Louis. The deceased had many friends in our city, and the funeral was largely attended.
