AMBROSE SCHMITT DIED LAST WEEK Ambrose C. Schmitt, 75, a former radio repair man and life-time resident of Waterloo, died Oct. 20 at Jefferson Barracks Veterans Hospital. His funeral took place Oct. 22 from the Quernheim Funeral Home with services at 10 a.m. at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Waterloo, the Rev. James McCormick officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Schmitt was born Feb. 14 1896 in Waterloo, a son of Ambrose and Anna Schmitt, nee Cawi. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Jane Schmitt, nee Kohlmeier; a son, Kenneth Schmitt of Lemay; a daughter-in-law; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Fritz of San Francisco and Mrs. Albert (Elizabeth) Wienhoff of Waterloo. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth; two brothers, Peter and Julian Schmitt and his parents. Mr. Schmitt was a member of SS Peter and Paul Church, the Waterloo American Legion Post 747 and the Waterloo Sportsman’s Club. (27 Oct 1971 Waterloo Republican, Waterloo, Illinois)
