Waterloo Republican May 1906 Schmidt, Mrs. Mary - OBIT Mrs. Mary Schmidt, nee Boubin, wife of John B. Schmidt died at Murphysboro, Ill on Tuesday May 22, and was buried here at the Catholic Cemetery on Friday May 25,. Mrs. Schmidt was born in Austria Oct 21, 1847. After emigrating to America she was married to Mr. Schmidt in St. Louis. The couple have made their home here in Columbia ever since. She was afflicted with a disease pronounced as incurable. A few days ago she desired to go to Murphysboro to visit her children. There she asked to be taked to the hospital to be operated, which was done. From the operation she never recovered and death claimed her for his own. The deceased leaves her husband and 5 children all grown. She was aged 59 years, 7 months and 1 day. Her burial was attended by a large concourse of friends and relatives. The floral offerings at her burial were many and beautiful, chief among which was a large floral cross sent b the postmaster and letter carriers of Murphysboro where her son Louis is one of the letter carriers in the postal service. She suffered long and hopeless but she bore her suffering with the abiding faith of the true Christian. Among the many who attended the funeral from a distance we mention. Mr. and Mrs. Ado F. Schmidt and family, Louis Schmidt, George Habermehl and family, Mrs. Ben Habermehl, Mrs. Louis Habermehl, Dominc Imo and wife, and Mrs. Glasser all from Murphysboro; Louis Arns and Frank Scharfenberger from Waterloo; William Schmidt from Mulkeytown, Ill., and Mrs. J. Rau of Waterloo.
