Obituary - Waterloo Advocate, March 12, 1874 
We record with deep regret the death of Mrs. Julia Mathews, a native of
Kilkenny, Ireland, and wife of Mr. Thomas Mathews of New Grove, Monroe
County, Illinois.
The deceased was a truly charitable and religious lady, and by the
exercise of the virtues of benevolence and amiability won for herself a
large circle of friends in her adopted home, all of whom mourn her early
demise.
Mrs. Mathews was but 43 years of age.  May she rest in peace.
