Jung, Carolina nee Braun Waterloo Republican February 17, 1932 - Deaths - Jung Mrs. Carolina Jung, widow of Henry Jung Sr., died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Herman Janson, in St. Louis, on February 13, aged 85 years and 9 months. Mrs. Jung, nee Braun, was born in Germany on May 13, 1846. At the age of 9 the family came to this country and for a time resided at New Orleans. Later they came to Tiptown, then to Waterloo. She was married to Henry Jung on March 4, 1862. Reverend P. Limacher had just received his appointment as rector of this parish, and this was his first marriage ceremony. They kept a store for a number of years at the corner of Fourth and Main. Twelve children were born to this union, six of whom survive. They are John and Joseph Jung of St. Louis, Al G. Jung and Charles Jung of Waterloo, Mrs. Herman Janson of St. Louis and Mrs. Edward Vogt of Mt. Olive. She also leaves 51 grand children and 18 great grandchildren. Mr. Jung died on March 4, on the 48th anniversary of the wedding. Mrs. Jung had been in very good health to the time of her death. She had been keeping house in Waterloo up to about two months ago, when she went to the city, and she had been about as usual until within a day or two of her death. The deceased was held in high esteem by all who knew her, as a good neighbor and mother, and devoted to her church. The remains were brought to this city yesterday for interment, which took place after impressive services in the Catholic Church. The funeral took place in SS Peter and Paul’s cemetery, attended by a large number of sympathizing friends. Transcribed and typed by Jean Jung
