Fisher, Melvin J - September 1, 2004 Melvin J. Fisher, 49, of Valmeyer, died September 1, 2004, at his mother’s home in Dupo. He was born February 18, 1955, in Perryville, Mo., the son of Carol Fisher and the late Thomas K. “Jack” Fisher. He is survived by his mother; brothers Kirk (Denise) Fisher of Valmeyer, Marvin Fisher of Millstadt, and Timothy (Tina) Fisher of Millstadt; business partner of Doug Bader of Valmeyer; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Fisher was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Valmeyer. He was a member of the Valmeyer Volunteer Fire Department, chairman of the fireworks committee, a First Responder and EMT and a disaster coordinator during the flood of 1993. He was a locomotive engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad for 31 years and belonged to the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Local #674 in Dupo. Visitation will be at Dashner Funeral Home Friday and Saturday, September 3 and 4, from 2 p.m. on Friday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. A funeral mass will be Saturday, September 4 at 1 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Dupo, Rev. Gerald Hechenberger officiating. He will be buried at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Dupo. Memorials may be made to Valmeyer Volunteer Fire Department or the American Cancer Society.
