Waterloo Advocate March 19, 1874 In Memoriam Died at his residence eight miles south of Waterloo, on the 19th of March 1874, James F. Brennan, aged 28 years, 9 months and 7 days. Deceased was a promising and prominent young man who went forth just a few years ago to fight the battle of life, which he did in a most exemplary and christian manner. He was connected for the past nine years with one of the largest importers of St. Louis, and in his capacity of manager of the house, and as a broker in coffee upon the street, won for himself a most enviable reputation and the esteem of his fellow business men. For the past four years he was an honored member of "Company A, National Guards." His friends generally and the entire community deeply sympathize with his bereaved father and mother, little daughter and most kind brothers, who greatly deplore his loss. "Whom the gods love die young." Note by Transcriber: Cemeteries are rarely listed on these old obits. In fact, an obit itself is rare, the paper usually just prints a 1 liner that so & so died, date, spouse/child of. Other BRENNANs buried in the county are in SS Peter & Paul, St. Patrick's, St. Augustine's.
