Miss Ella Fike of St. Louis spent the weekend at the parental home. William J. Jehling of Fountain transacted business here last Saturday. Don Livingstone of St. Louis spent Sunday here with relatives and old friends. Ben Struebig of St. Louis spent the weekend as a guest of Waterloo friends. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Sauer of East St. Louis were among the visitors here Sunday. Gustav Hirsch, Sr. , of Monroe City was among the visitors here last Saturday afternoon. John P. Eschmann of route 1 was among our callers Sunday and renewed his subscription. Charles Maeys and William Bodenbach of Maeystown spent Saturday afternoon here on business. Mr. and Mrs. Aug. Diehl of Maeystown were among the visitors here Thursday of last week. Henry Roth of route one was among our callers Saturday afternoon and renewed his subscription. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Meyer of St. Louis spent Sunday in our city the guests of Mr. George Lutz. Louis U. Rehling of Bluff precinct was among our callers last Thursday and renewed his subscription. Henry Hesterberg and daughter Miss Frieda of near Burksville were county hub callers last Friday. William Weber, Jr., of near Foster Pond was among our callers Saturday and renewed his father’s subscription. Mrs. Fred Boedecker, jr., of St. Louis spent Thursday of last week here the guest of Mrs. Charlotte Rehling. P.H. Crowe and family of St. Louis spent Sunday in this vicinity the guests of relatives. Pat is jolly and fat as ever. John and Henry Neemann of Renault Grant were business visitors here Monday and dropped in to renew their subscription. Emil Goeddel and family of St. Louis spent the weekend with relatives of this vicinity. They came down in Emil’s auto. Herman Baetje, who now manages the Wilco Dairy Farms in Willisville, spent a short while here Sunday evening en route to his job. Misses Ida and Kate Rogers spent several days last week with their sisters, Mrs. P.J. Ganen and Mrs. C.A. Starr, at Venice, Ill. Mr. and Mrs. John Linnertz of Renault precinct were Waterloo visitors Saturday. While here Mr. Linnertz renewed his subscription. Mr. and Mrs. William Rapp and daughter Florence and Jacob Maurer and family, all of St. Louis, spent the weekend with Peter Maurer and family. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Moffitt spent Sunday in St. Louis where they went to visit John Moffitt, who was stricken with paralysis some time ago. Alfred Scharfenberger, wife and little daughter, of St. Louis, spent Sunday here the guests of Alfred’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Scharfenberger. Gottfried Gentch and family of Welga, Ill., spent Saturday here with relatives. From here he left for Columbia to spend several days with relatives there. Charles Stamm and wife of Red Bud and D.H. Miles and wife of Valmeyer were Waterloo visitors Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Stamm were on their way home after spending several days at “Emmy’s” house on a visit. Jacob Hern of St. Louis visited relatives here Sunday. Mrs. Al Kohler is spending a few days in St. Louis this week. Miss Cecelia Pluth of St. Louis was a guest of home folks Sunday. Pieper of near Monroe City transacted business here Tuesday. Miss Ella Helfenstein of St. Louis spent Sunday as a guest of relatives. Mrs. Mary Mentel of Valmeyer visited Waterloo relatives and friends Sunday. Herman Wienhoff of route one dropped in to renew his subscription Monday. John Gray and A.C. Douglas of East St. Louis spent Tuesday here on business. Miss Katie Eschenfelder left for St. Louis last week where she is now employed. Mrs. Louis Mentel and daughter Bernell spent Wednesday in St. Louis on a visit. Theodore Sondag and daughter Miss Emma, of Valmeyer, were among the visitors here Monday. Henry Braun of near Hecker transacted business here Tuesday and renewed his subscription. Emil Osterhage left Tuesday for White Water, Mo., where he will clear some land on his farm. Jacob Mueller of Valmeyer was among our callers Monday and renewed his subscription. Joseph Vogt of Chicago is spending several weeks’ vacation with his parents on route three. Henry Wuertz of route 2 was among our callers Monday and slipped us a cart wheel on subscription. John Miller and friend Louis Richter of St. Louis are spending the week here with relatives and friends. John Karback of Litchfield, Ill., was down to attend the funeral of William Skaer at Floraville, Monday. Jacob Mueller of Columbia was a business visitor here Monday and renewed his subscription to the Times. Fred Kuergeleis, Jr., of Burksville was among our callers Monday and renewed his subscription for another year. Mrs. O.D. Law of St. Louis spent several days last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Feldmeier. William Schaefer of near Fountain was a Waterloo visitor Tuesday. He came to make a supply of cider for the winter. Fred Wessel of New Hanover was a visitor Monday and left a cart wheel at this office for another year’s subscription. Albert E. Hosto of St. Louis, district manager of the Security Mutual Life Insurance Co., spent several days here this week. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hick and sons Adolph and Elmer autoed down from Columbia Tuesday evening and spent several hours in town. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Harbaugh and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schumacher of Hecker were visiting Sunday with William Harbaugh and family. Gustav Hoffmann of Valmeyer route 2 spent Monday at the county capital and extended his subscription for another year while here. Mr. and Mrs. Julius Jahr of Valmeyer and Mrs. Oscar Jahr of Columbia visited with Mrs. Julius Jahr’s sister, Mrs. Anna C. Wooter Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, the former’s mother and Milton Myers, all of Collinsville, autoed down Sunday to visit Mrs. L. Meyers and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lutz. Mrs. Anna Wooters visited with her niece, Mrs. John Mundinger in East St. Louis, and her sister, Mrs. E. Scharfenberger in St. Louis Wednesday. Jacob Seyler, William Laub, Dan Schaefer, Mrs. Schaefer and daughter Miss Ida, all of Valmeyer, autoed to Waterloo Monday for a short visit with friends here. Fred H. Roever of Maeystown was among our callers Wednesday. Mr. Roever has just finished building a new house which is considered as handsome as any in his home town. Albert Petzold and family and Rudolph Hennel and family of St. Louis spend Sunday here the guests of Louis Wolf and family, and while there went over to sample Balzer Schmidt’s wine. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Brown and children spent Sunday at St. Joe, the guests of Paul Larsie and family. Louis Osterhage and family accompanied them. The party went in Mr. Osterhage’s machine. Our old friend Peter W. Miller of Columbia was a Waterloo visitor Monday and stepped in to renew his subscription.
