The Waterloo Paper January 11, 1915 Fed the Oysters Louis Bickelhaupt, proprietor of the City Hotel, regaled the patrons of his establishment with an oyster lunch on the afternoon of New Year’s Day. This is an annual custom of Mr. Bickelhaupt and the finest oysters obtainable on the market are served raw, stewed or fried in the dining room of the hotel to all comers free of charge. There was a good size crowd present to enjoy Louis’ hospitality and an orchestra upstairs reminded one of a cabaret dinner, though there was no dancing. The oysters this year were almost too large and half a dozen were plenty to satisfy a pretty fair-sized appetite.
