The Columbia Star June 14, 1900 MERRIMAC William Huch now smiles a large smile. It’s a girl. Quite a Kimmswick people attended the picnic Sunday. Wheat is turning yellow very fast. Soon the rattle of the binder will be heard everywhere. Louis Zimmer who is repairing binders for Frank Metzger passed through Merrimac Saturday. Messrs. J.W. Rickert, F. Jobusch, J. Gatzert, Charles Morrison, W. S. Burroughs, M. Schorr, and L. Jobusch took in the picnic at Merrimac Sunday. The attendance at the picnic was not as large as could have been expected though everybody had a good time. Pedagogue Weihl at least. Things were beginning to be interesting when the rain came up and all hiked for shelter.
