The Waterloo Times Friday, October 29, 1915 MAEYSTOWN Messrs. Horn and Lossie were in town Sunday on their motor cycles. Miss Tillie Pothoff of Valmeyer spent Sunday with her cousin, Miss Bertha Hoffmann. William Trost of Valmeyer and his lady friend attended the wedding ceremony of Mr. and Mrs. William Schatte. Misses Emma and Lizzie Miller and Annie Henerfauth of St. Louis were home Sunday on a visit to their parents. August Ripplemeyer and Herman Pape, who live in the Bottom, passed through here Monday on their way to Waterloo. Herman Quernheim and family of Waterloo were visiting the families of Conrad Wipperman and Peter Hoffmann, Sunday. Christ Hartmann, wife and son Nelson and Mr. and Mrs. Siegmund Hoffmann and son of St. Louis motored through town Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Freimuth, sr., Mr. and Mrs. Herman Freimuth, Jr., and Miss Yvette Freimuth visited Postmaster Louis Krone and family the past Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Roever had their baby boy christened last Sunday by Rev. Paul Schulz. They named him Lester William Albert, and William Schatte and Christina Schilling were sponsors. Rev. Henry Waiser of St. Louis and Rev. John Schuch of Washington, Mo., visited with Rev. Paul Schulz October 19-20. As Rev. Schuch and Rev. Schulz were classmates, the visit was mostly cordial. They do say that William Hesterberg is contemplating winning the next quoit contest at the homecoming next year. Last Sunday William and his partner August Schatte won all honors in a game of quoits from Rev. Schulz and Henry Schilling. The game was played at the Shatte- Schilling wedding. Rev. and Mrs. John Nollau and daughter Miss Clara of Waterloo gave Rev. Paul Schulz and family a short call last Friday. While here they also visited the church which they said was about the nicest kept house of worship in this part of the country. Miss Clara Nollau played several selections on the large pipe organ. Married, Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock P.M., William Schatte and Miss Christine Schilling. The wedding ceremony was performed by Rev. Paul Schulz and the wedding march to which the couple marched into the church was played by Miss Meta Hoffmann, organist of St. John’s Evangelical church. The groom is the son of Mrs. Magdelana Schatte, and the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schilling of near here. They were attended by William Schilling, a brother of the bride, and Miss Mathilda Schatte, a sister of the groom. The bride and bridesmaid looked very sweet in their beautiful wedding costumes. After the ceremony in the church the wedding party went to the residence of the bride’s parents where a sumptuous dinner was awaiting them. Monday the newlyweds and wedding attendants went to Waterloo where they had their wedding photograph taken. They will go to housekeeping in the Fred Roever house in our village. We wish them success and all the pleasures there is in married life.
