The Waterloo Times Friday, September 24, 1915 Another Waterloo Bachelor Succumbs Dr. L. J. Miller, our popular veterinary surgeon, was married to Miss Lydia Knapp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Knapp, at Kansas City, Mo., one day last week. They came home Friday evening and went to house-keeping at once in a pretty little cottage on North Market street, which had already been furnished in advance in anticipation of the happy event. The wedding had been expected for quite a while by Doc’s friends, and, although the newlyweds arrived here on the 10:15 interurban, the news traveled around town on the “wings of the wind” and in a short while the young couple was listening to the strains of Mendelssohn’s wedding march as played on the dilapidated wash boilers, etc. Doc “produced” and the crowd hied themselves away and drank to the health of the newly wedded pair. On Tuesday evening they planned to give Doc another round and gathered quite a mob for the occasion. They had not quite finished their first selection when Doc opened the door, broom in hand, and swatted the serenader nearest to him across the jaw. “Enough was a plenty” for Doc and he don’t like that kind of music, anyhow. This broke up the serenade and the newlyweds were left in peace since then. Their many friends throughout the county join the Times in wishing them all the luck in the world. We hope they will not strike any discords (such as the serenaders played) on their path through life, and that they will live long and prosper.
