The Waterloo Times Friday, April 23, 1915 Two Heckerites Injured One Hecker man and one boy resident of the same place were seriously injured by dangerous machinery. While sawing lumber at George Schilling’s sawmill, Tony Neff caught his foot in the saw and received a long gash before he could remove it. Fred Benze, aged 10, was riding on a disc pulverizer driven by his father, when he slipped off and fell. His right leg was caught between two disks. Several stitches were required to close the wound. ----Belleville News Democrat
