The Waterloo Times Friday, March 26, 1915 Death’s Doings Mrs. Moore Passes Away Monday – Other Deaths Mrs. Julie R. Moore, nee Block, beloved wife of Oscar W. Moore, died at her home in this city Monday morning at 11:40 o’clock after a lingering illness aged 48 years, 11 months and 10 days. None but those who have sat in the shadow of a great bereavement can justly weigh such a sorrow as this. Those who have gone down into the valley of suffering and stood for months by the side of a loved one, as hope after hope dropped away as the petals fall from a fading flower; know that such anguish cannot find solace in the tendered words. She who has gone forth could not be supported on her solitary path by any earthly friend. The husband with a devotion few men are capable of, whose strength was given sweetly, tenderly to this precious invalid, whose heroic devotion never faltered, could not detain her by the clasp of earthly love, but after the last word had been spoken, the last sign of recognition was gone a look of peace settled on her face which proclaimed victory, and he knew she was resting on a mighty arm. Mr. and Mrs. Moore came to reside in our city about a year ago and in a remarkably short time numbered their friends by the score. Her pleasing personality and kindly ways made her a general favorite in the circle of her friendship and her death came as a sad blow to her newly made friends in our city. Julie Block was born April 12, 1866, in Perry County, Mo. On August 26, 1881, she was married in St. Louis to Oscar W. Moore to which union tow sons were born, one dying in infancy. The other, George M., together with her husband survives. Besides the immediate relatives, two cousins and an aunt survive, all of whom reside in Kansas City, Mo. The floral offerings were beautiful and profuse. From all quarters came beautiful flowers from sympathizing friends and her casket was covered and surrounded by the choicest and largest collection of flower tributes seen here in many a day. After requiem in Sts. Peter and Paul’s church in this city Wednesday morning, her body was shipped to Chester for burial where it found a final resting place in Evergreen cemetery in that city. The bereaved husband and son have the sincere sympathy of their many friends in their deep affliction.
