The Waterloo Times Friday, September 24, 1915 Church Struck By Lightening During the thunder shower Thursday evening the German Lutheran church in Renault was struck by lightening and had it not been discovered by some men who were cutting corn in that vicinity the entire building might have been destroyed. As it was, a bucket brigade was formed and the fire was quickly put out. It has been estimated that $50 will cover the damage done to the building.
