The Waterloo Times Friday, March 26, 1915 Basketball Local High School Team Puts Kibosh on Red Bud High Red Bud High School came up Friday evening in the third contest of a series with our high school boys. The visitors were simply outclassed in all stages of the game and, especially so, in their team work. Our boys lacked the services one of their best forwards, Admiral Fults, who was injured at Columbia not long ago, but that did not prevent them from playing their same consistent game. Charles May and Otis Rexroth came out with the most points. Ervin Hartmann also deserves mention for his pass work. Last, but not least, we must not forget to mention our guards Henry Schneider and Arnold Hoffmann. They guarded the Red Bud forwards so well that they didn’t have a lookin. At the end of the first half, the score stood 24 to 4 in our boys’ favor. The locals were not content with this, and kept piling up the field goals, the score at the end of the game being 44 to 5. It is still an unsolved mystery in this burg how Red Bud won the first two games. Our boys now have a record of five games won and four lost. Not so bad for the first season, eh? The score: Red Bud Waterloo Kalbitz 1 rf May 22 Gremp 2 lf Hartman 2 Hoffmann 0 c Rexroth 18 Nolan 0 rg Hoffmann 0 Lohrberg 2 lg Schneider 2 The Baldwin boys will be here Friday evening to play the local team. This is another bunch that is due for a cleaning. Watch our boys wipe up on ‘em this time.
