The Waterloo Republican May 3, 1900 AMES The recent rains and warm weather are making the wheat grow an inch per day. Harry Drury, of Renault, was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Rolla Haynes Saturday evening and Sunday. Mrs. Pat Cullen, who has been seriously ill this past week, we are informed, is slowly improving. Rev. James Sproul, of Sparta, held services here Sunday morning and evening to a fair congregation. Henry Hapke, and family and Will Zerscher and family of Evansville were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Kennedy Sunday. Louis Uppermann formerly of this place but now if East St. Louis is visiting friends and relatives near Ames at present.
