Transcribed from the scrapbook of Emma Rey’s newspaper articles by Wayne Rey. Jacob Riebling, grieving Over Relatives’ Deaths, Ends His Life. Grieved by the loss within twenty-four hours of his mother, his great-grandmother and a cousin, Jacob Riebling, No. 210A Bowen Street, car conductor, yesterday morning shot himself as he knelt at the bedside of his wife of two months. His wife had gone out of the room to bring him some water, because he said he felt faint. When she hear the shot she rushed in and was terrified to see her husband lying on the floor, fully dressed with blood trickling from a bullet wound in his left temple. The couple was married November 2 in the house in which the bridegroom committed suicide. They both came from Columbia, Ill. where the funerals that drove Riebling to suicide took place. Mrs. Riebling was formerly Miss Lulu Mosbacher, and is 20 years old. Riebling was 24.
