The Waterloo Times May 28, 1915 JOHN HERMANN IS CHAMPION BERRY MAN The finest strawberries we have seen this year were raised by Mr. and Mrs. John Hermann, who live at the east edge of town in a what the artists would call a “dream” of a bungalow. But John and his estimable helpmate do other things besides dreaming, and the grounds surrounding their home show that they are busy taking care of things, the landscape being dotted with beautiful flowers and shrubs and besides they have quite a patch of berries, the finest we have set our eyes upon this season. While the yield this year falls far behind that of other years, John did better than most of our berry growers around here and had more than he required for his own use.
