General Notes:
An unconfirmed record found on an Ontario County, New York website lists a marriage on November 10, 1824, between Truman Miles and Helen Richardson. To date, no record has been found showing the maiden name of Lois, wife of Truman Miles, so whether Lois Miles and Helen Richardson are the same person is unknown at this time. Truman has not been positively located in early census records, although he may be the "Freeman Miles" found in Canandaigua, Ontario County, New York in 1830. In the 1840 census, Truman Miles is found in Monroe County, Illinois. He lived near his brother Stephen, and there are several land transactions between the two brothers on file at the Monroe County courthouse. Truman died intestate "on or about the 6th day of December, 1846" leaving his widow, Lois Miles, and one son, James Miles. On August 2, 1849, Stephen W. Miles, Jr. was appointed administrator of Truman's estate. At last visit to the Eagle Cliffs/Miles cemetery in 2004, Truman's stone is still in one piece, although it is lying down and can be found near the mausoleum built by his brother, Stephen. The stone has that Truman died on December 2, 1846, which contradicts the date of death given in the letters of administration.

Found in the 1900 US Census, Mitchie Pct, Monroe Co. IL, in the David and Sophia Miles household, listed as "father". James was age 72, and birthdate given as Aug. 1828. Letters of Administration were filed on December 1, 1900, Book F, page 76 at Monroe County, Illinois. Joshua Wilson was appointed administrator. James Miles died "on or about June 4, 1900". The heirs were listed as William Miles, Elmer Miles, Cora Miles, Ethel Miles, Ella Crow, William Ellis, D. H. Miles, Luther C. Miles.

DOLPHIN MILES is listed in the St. John's Maeystown death records: born December 29, 1854, died July 29, 1897 of "congestor chills", buried July 30, 1897 at Miles Cemetery. Letters of Administration were filed at Monroe County, Illinois on January 10, 1901, in Book F, Page 83. Willliam A. Miles died "on or about July 29, 1897". His heirs were listed as Elizabeth Ditch (nee Miles) his widow. William Miles, Elmer Miles, Cora Miles, and Ethel Miles, his children. After the death of William Adolphus Miles, the widow, Mary Elizabeth (McKinney) Miles, married Walter Ditch, son of George H. and Mary Ditch. By 1920, Walter and Lizzie Ditch were living in Kelso Township, Scott County, Missouri.
