The Advocate January 22, 1864 page 3 col 1 Burned to Death - A little daughter of Samuel Laknis, living near Eagle Cliffs, was burned to death on the 15th inst., by her clothes taking fire from a stove. Mr. and Mrs. Lakins were both away from home at the time of the accident, assisting in the funeral preparations of Joseph Van Pelt. When they returned, they found their daughter lying dead, with her clothes all burned off her, abut 150 yards the house. She had ran for assistance, before being overcome by the fire.
