Schmidt, Emily L. nee Polacek
Emily L. Schmidt nee Polacek, 90, of Waterloo, died Sept. 12, 2006, 
in Waterloo. She was born Sept. 1, 1916, in East St. Louis, the daughter 
of the late Frank and Mary Polacek nee Ditte. Mrs. Schmidt is survived
by her children Charles Danco (Shirley), Ailene Vallett, John (Vicki) 
Schmidt, and Lonny (Patricia) Schmidt; grandchildren Jesse Danco, 
Ricky Danco, Joe (Tori) Danco, Michele Vallett, Kim Schmidt, Matt 
Schmidt, Lesley (Alex) Fruth, Jason Schmidt, Justin Schmidt and Josh 
Schmidt; great-grandchildren; brothers Frank Polacek Jr. and Robert 
Polacek; sisters Marcella Hobbs and Violet Birke; and dear friends Helen 
Godare and Glover Harris. She was preceded in death by her parents, 
grandchildren Danny Danco and Audrey Danco, and brothers William 
Polacek and Edward Polacek. Mrs. Schmidt was a member of St. Paul 
United Church of Christ in Waterloo and was a senior companion. 
Visitation and funeral services were at Quernheim Funeral Home, Pastor 
Doug Roberts officiating. She is buried at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery in 
Waterloo. Memorials may be made to Senior Companion.
