The Waterloo Republican April 21, 1948 Fred Stenzel To Be Buried Here Friday Fred Stenzel, 76, retired post-office employee of East St. Louis, where he was employed for 22 years, died Tuesday noon, April 20, 1948, and will be buried here Friday from Wagner Funeral Home with services in the Evangelical Church, Rev. Bassler officiating. Mr. Stenzel was born near Waterloo August 28, 1871, a son of Julius and Mary Krueger Stenzel. For many years he operated a farm near Hecker, later moving to East St. Louis. He married the former Henrietta Herbert on June 15, 1893, who preceded him in death July 16, 1946. He is survived by four sons, Alvin C. Sr. of Belleville, Andrew at home, Levi of Cairo, and Eugene Stenzel of Belleville, and six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister Mrs. Louisa Mehrman of Floraville, and a brother Julius, of Waterloo. The body is at the Burke Funeral Home, East St. Louis, and will lie in state at the Wagner parlor in this city Thursday, with the funeral the following day.
