The Waterloo Times Friday, September 24, 1915 Floraville Citizen Passed Away Mr. William Skaer of Floraville, Ill., died Friday evening October 22, 1915, at nine P.M. after a lingering illness aged 70 years, 9 months and 26 days. He was born in Marxheim, Germany, December 26, 1834. He came to America with his parents in early childhood and settled near Belleville. On May 26, 1857, he married to Anna Marie Sauzeck and they settled on a farm near Floraville. In 1896 he retired and moved to Floraville. Nine children were born to their union; four of them preceded the father to the other world. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife and five children, Mrs. Charles Daesch of near New Athens, Mrs. Jacob Fauss of Waterloo, Mrs. Charles Klein of Floraville and Edward and William Skaer Jr. of near Floraville. Also twelve grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Sensel of Red Bud and Mrs. Dill of Belleville. His remains were laid to rest in the Floraville cemetery Monday afternoon. Rev. W. Barkan conducted the services.
