The Waterloo Republican May 31, 1900 O’Leary Mrs. Catherine O’Leary, relict of the late Daniel O’Leary, died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Craven in East St. Louis Saturday, and was buried in Tipton cemetery Monday. Mrs. O’Leary was aged about 90 years, and had been a resident of this county since 1849. Her husband had been dead for about twenty years. Nine children survive, two of which Daniel, and Mrs. Andrew Rickert, reside in this county. Mrs. Wm. Burke, Mrs. John Craven, Mrs. Michael Wall, Mrs. Sarah Gilvin, Arthur, Thomas and Morris O’Leary, the balance residing in East St. Louis. Mrs. O’Leary came to Monroe County when it was but a forest and lived to see it grow into one of the best agricultural counties in the Union. She had a host of friends who followed her remains to the grave as a final tribute of respect.
